The region of Umbria is referred to as “Italy’s Green Heart” and it truly is. We spent three days at Casale Mille Soli an agriturismo B&B in Mugnano Poggio a part of Perugia. It sits way back in the olive grove covered rolling hills. You drive along a winding, rocky dirt road past pastures and are treated to amazing vistas like these.
The B&B was constructed in part from a monastery dating back to the 1600’s. The owners Giancarlo and Valeria have kept the same style as they have expanded and restored the property.
So as explained in a previous post, an agriturismo is a bit of a working farm. Mille Soli has over 300 olive trees which are hundreds of years old. Did I mention the garden..,
And then there is the “relax”. Check out the hammocks under the olive trees.
And of course for us girls “relax” is always inherent in the word “shopping”. A short drive away we visited the quaint hilltop town of Casteligione del Lago which overlooks Lake Trasimeno.
The prices in the shops here are definitely some of the best. You will see a lot of products made from cinghiale (wild boar). These two stuffed cuties were enjoying a bit of the vino.
Then it was time to head back to our apartment after a great afternoon.
